Agency to Lead Development of Global Movement
RALEIGH (July 13, 2017) – French/West/Vaughan (FWV) one of the nation’s largest independently-owned public relations, advertising and digital marketing agencies, has been selected as the strategic marketing partner for Rise Against Hunger, the U.S.-based organization dedicated to ending the global food crisis. FWV has been tapped to lead the development of an international grassroots movement to help the non-profit achieve its mission to eradicate hunger worldwide by 2030.
Rise Against Hunger was founded in 1998 under the name “Stop Hunger Now” by former U.S. Marine and Vietnam veteran Ray Buchanan, a United Methodist minister. Led today by CEO Rod Brooks, the organization was rebranded in early 2017 to become Rise Against Hunger. In February, Rise Against Hunger initiated a search for a strategic marketing partner to help develop a campaign to generate global awareness, engagement and activism. FWV was selected as agency-of-record following a review of 17 national marketing firms.

Statistical analysis shows that a global commitment to mobilization can not only help provide food and nutrition to the world’s most vulnerable populations, but also provide life-changing aid, education and sustainable resources to stabilize food security in high-risk regions and effectively end hunger by 2030.
Based in Raleigh, N.C., Rise Against Hunger has grown into a global operation with over 376,000 volunteers. One of its primary services is producing and packaging nutritious meals that are distributed to partners in countries around the world. More than 320 million meals have been packaged by volunteers, reaching those in need throughout 74 countries. Rise Against Hunger programs also include skills training and education, clean water initiatives, business and agricultural assistance, health and nutrition awareness, and crisis response.

FWV will be responsible for strategic planning, creative design, writing, earned and social media, program activation, event management and partnership development for Rise Against Hunger. Campaign components will roll out over the next several months, hitting full speed in 2018.
