RALEIGH, N.C. (May 16, 2023) — French/West/Vaughan (FWV), one of the nation’s leading independently held public relations and integrated marketing agencies, has been retained as PR agency-of-record for Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage, the historic farm and homeplace of the seventh president of the United States. Located in Nashville, Tennessee, the 1,120-acre National Historic Landmark is one of the most popular presidential homesites, attracting more than 230,000 annual visitors.

Opened to the public as a museum in 1889, The Hermitage is operated by the Andrew Jackson Foundation and features one of America’s first presidential museums along with more than 20 historic buildings, including Jackson’s mansion and tomb, restored slave cabins, a church and gardens. Visitors have access to programs devoted to the stories of those enslaved on the property, Jackson’s life at The Hermitage prior to his death in 1845, and his military, political and cultural legacy as an icon of American history.

FWV is leading all local, regional and national media relations initiatives for The Hermitage, focused on mainstream consumer markets, as well as travel and event industry channels. Additionally, FWV will lead influencer marketing and partnership efforts for The Hermitage. Along with its ongoing educational programming, the Andrew Jackson Foundation hosts seasonal fundraising events at The Hermitage together with popular family and social occasions centered around music, arts and crafts, gardening, local craft brewing and whiskey-making.

Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage is a living, thriving touchstone of history, and we are excited to have FWV on board to raise public awareness about all we have to offer,” said Howard J. Kittell, president and CEO ofthe Andrew Jackson Foundation. This wonderfully preserved landmark gives us the opportunity bring people together and understand the past so we can build a better future.”

The Hermitage is located 12 miles east of Nashville at 4580 Rachel’s Lane. The property, including the Andrew Jackson Visitors’ Center and Museum, is open daily from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and features guided tours of the mansion and self-guided tours of the garden and grounds.

The Andrew Jackson Foundation has done a tremendous job not only sustaining the preservation and authenticity of The Hermitage but also developing historical programming to encourage dialogue around the Jacksonian legacy,” said FWV Chairman & CEO Rick French. We’re extremely proud to help tell the many stories that live on through its efforts and introduce a historical treasure to new audiences.”
