Founded by Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend of The Who, TCA has Raised National Standard of Care
LOS ANGELES (July 24, 2018) – Teen Cancer America (TCA), the national non-profit launched in 2012 by rock’n’roll icons Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend of The Who, announced today that marketing agency CEO and film producer Rick French has joined the TCA Board of Directors.
French is Chairman & CEO of French/West/Vaughan (FWV), the award-winning integrated marketing company headquartered in Raleigh, N.C. that serves as the pro bono public relations agency for TCA. French is also recognized for his involvement in music and cinema, serving on the Board of Trustees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame & Museum in Cleveland, The Buddy Holly Educational Foundation and as managing partner of feature film company Prix Productions.
“Being part of the Teen Cancer America organization has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life,” said French. “The passion that Roger, Pete and their team of board members, staff and volunteers have for making a difference in the lives of teen cancer patients is truly inspiring.”
Each year in America, more than 70,000 adolescents and young adults (AYA) are diagnosed with cancer. Based in Los Angeles, TCA unites physicians and healthcare specialists in the fields of pediatric and adult oncology to develop age-specific programs for AYA cancer patients, and helps finance new facilities where teens and young adults undergoing treatment can be themselves and find support among each other.

French joins Rothstein on a board of directors that includes Howard Jaffe (Philadelphia-based attorney), Bill Curbishley (legendary manager of The Who, Led Zeppelin), Jordan Kaplan (President & CEO, Douglas Emmett, Inc.) and Jeff Ward (Chief Strategy Officer, First Citizens Bank). With the influence of Daltrey, Townshend and a growing roster of celebrity ambassadors, TCA continues to expand its development of programs and facilities at premier hospitals across the U.S. and elevate the national standard of care for teens and young adults with cancer.

Teen Cancer America helps hospitals and healthcare professionals bridge the gap between pediatric and adult oncology care by supporting hospitals and outpatient facilities in the development of specialized units for this age group. TCA brings together physicians and allied healthcare professionals in both pediatric and adult oncology. Age targeted care for this population is necessary for medical and appropriate psychosocial development. Outcomes associated with some cancers that target this age group have not improved in over 30 years.
