Rick French chosen as one of 11 top PR practitioners in the country to provide guest commentary
RALEIGH, N.C. (July 14, 2009) - French/West/Vaughan (FWV), one of the nation's largest independent public relations, public affairs and brand communications agencies, today announced that Rick French, FWV chairman and CEO, is highlighted as a guest commentator in a new book, "Applied Public Relations: Cases in Stakeholder Management."
The book, written by Kathy Brittain McKee and Larry F. Lamb (Routledge), provides readers with the opportunity to observe and analyze how contemporary businesses and organizations interact with key groups and influencers. French is highlighted as one of 11 guest commentators, each of whom is a leading public relations practitioner chosen to answer a question about the best practices in public relations.
French's commentary appears within a chapter about reaching and impacting contemporary consumers. He provides professional insight into how to approach the practice of public relations in the "iPod generation," as the manner in which society chooses to receive information rapidly evolves. French explores the idea that traditional tools the public relations industry has previously relied on to deliver a message typically do not hold the interest of today's youth and tomorrow's consumer. He delves into the message delivery vehicles that can reach this audience, and how public relations professionals can capture the attention of consumers who have been conditioned to "surf" from one thing to another.
French is one of the nation's most visible agency CEOs, having also recently co-authored another book, "Inside the Minds: Public Relations Best Practices," in which public relations industry insiders provide insight regarding the most effective communications strategies. Additionally, French serves as a speaker at numerous industry conferences and travels as an industry ambassador to advocate for the profession both in the U.S. and overseas.
"Applied Public Relations: Cases in Stakeholder Management" will be used as a teaching tool in college classrooms nationwide.
